MODIFIED IN OUR HANDS
Alampally Brothers Ltd is a closely held Public Limited Company promoted jointly by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation and Alampally Group to cater to the need of LPG cylinders for the public sector Oil Corporations such as Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Bharath Petroleum Corporation Limited. The management of the company was changed during 2005-06 as the complete shares of the company was acquired by Mr. M. B. Koyakutty of Mezhukkattil Group and his family members. Mr.Koyakutty, his wife Mrs.Fathima Koyakutty and his cousin Mr. T. I. Sulfikkar are the present directors of the company.
Cylinders are used throughout the world for the transport and supply of gases, and the range of users of the gases is extremely wide, including pharmaceuticals, electronics, food, chemicals and manufacturing industry generally. The estimated annual world turnover is 4000 million USD, and the number of cylinders in circulation is estimated to be 2000 million, of which about 20% are high pressure, the balance being the familiar low pressure type used mainly for LPG.

PRODUCTION FLOW
The production process of LPG cylinders can be sub-divided into lines for the main body, for the subcomponents (which could also be outsourced), assembly, surface treatment and finishing. These cylinders are being produced continuously as the existing stock deteriorates during use.
SCOPE OF THE PROPOSAL
The requirement of LPG cylinders of the oil companies is on the increase year after year and this company is the only functioning cylinder manufacturing unit existing in the state of Kerala.
TYPICAL DESIGN
LPG household cylinders consist of two shells, each forming one half of the egg-shaped tank. The rim of the lower shell is drawn in ("joggled"), so that it fits inside the upper half and the upper half has a hole in the center of the dome to accomodate the valve neck or bung.
